Amphibians - Newts
So far we have not seen many newts -
usually
just a brief glimpse on moving a flowerpot, as it
scurries away somewhere inaccessible.
This one was about 5cm, (2 inches) long.
The
first we knew we had Great Crested Newts was a
Juvenile Heron spent 15 minutes learning how to swallow
one
outside the kitchen window. The Newt was fortunately dead
quite quickly, but the difficulty in swallowing it gave
us the
chance to take this picture
